What Inspired Us to Create the LidMate Trunk Lid Organizer
Concept
The idea behind our LidMate Organizer was sparked by summer campers themselves. Because we offer our lifetime warranty, we get trunks back for repair from time to time. When we noticed trunks coming back with camp packing lists and family photos taped to the underside of the trunk lid, we asked ourselves: "How can we better utilize this wasted space?"
Creation
While out touring camps, our Sales Director Matt pitched the idea for a built-in lid accessory to camp staff members. We knew we were onto something when every camp he visited flipped over the idea — so we went straight to work. We knew we wanted it to display pictures or packing lists and help keep smaller items organized: lip balm, a deck of cards, a mini-flashlight, and more.
Installation
We found our inspiration. We created our design. Then we had to figure out how it would attach inside the trunk. We tried different adhesives, plastic turnbuckles, and even snaps — but in the end, super-strong velcro worked best.
