A PackTowl Howl

Posted on

Hey, Camp Folks!

An absolute necessity at camp, you want your child to bring a towel they can dry off with quickly and thoroughly for the duration of their summer stay! Your natural instinct may be to go with an ordinary, bulky cotton towel (probably like the ones in your bathroom at home). And that will certainly get your camper by for their summer stay. But a towel like this has its disadvantages in the summer camp setting such as eating up space and not remaining the most fresh.

PackTowl, on the other hand, doesn’t make just any typical towel. THESE towels are anything but! Yes, they are higher-priced than your basic cotton towel, but you don’t want to skimp when it comes to your child’s camp stay. Read on to learn how PackTowl Towels are extraordinary products and worth every penny.

Did you know that, before the 1800s, towels were only found in the closets of the rich and royalty? They used to be much more expensive before the Industrial Revolution when they were all handwoven. The advent of large textile machines, however, brought the means of mass production in a short amount of time, making cotton towels much more affordable. They quickly became a part of our everyday lives and a commonplace item found in every household.

PackTowl is here to revolutionize the towel by making it out of an ultra-soft fabric that’s easy to wring out and dries unbelievably fast—70% faster than cotton. In fact, when hung out in the sun, it dries in just FIVE MINUTES. Perfect for camp! These towels are also lightweight and amazingly absorbent. Camp packing lists typically want you bringing four shower towels and two beach towels. PackTowl towels, however, dry so quickly that you could get away with bringing fewer along!

When your average towel comes back from camp, best case scenario: it becomes a rag towel. But PackTowl isn’t your average towel. It’s made with built-in sand and dirt-repellency; just a few good shakes and this towel shrugs it all off! It’s guaranteed to survive multiple camp outings from one season to the next for many years to come. Check out our PackTowl towels when you click right here. Thanks for reading, Camp Folks. And, as always, Happy Camping!

Wool for all Weather

Hey, Camp Fans!

Here at Everything Summer Camp we pride ourselves in the quality products that we offer. Of course, we take full credit when it comes to the C&N Footlocker trunks that we manufacture ourselves ever since our humble beginnings, but we give absolute credit to those whose quality products we offer on our online shop. Let’s take a closer look at the Smartwool brand and the many wool socks of theirs that we offer on our online shop. How did this company get their start?

The Smartwool Story
Smartwool is a little ski-town brand founded by Peter and Patty Duke—ski instructors who moved in 1994 from the East Coast to Steamboat, Colorado. “That first year in Steamboat was the coldest my feet have ever been,” Peter was quoted in an Outdoor Retailer article from 2017. “I literally poured water out of my boots at the end of the day! A friend and I made some merino socks, and after that my feet were the warmest they’ve ever been, and they were absolutely dry. That’s when the lightbulb went off.”

Why Wool?
It may sound like torture to wear wool on your feet, but that’s because you’re thinking of the wrong kind of wool like your grandmother’s itchy sweater. Smartwool uses responsibly-sourced Merino wool which consists of a much thinner and softer fiber. It isn’t itchy at all. In fact, it’s insanely soft, unbelievably breathable, and completely comfortable!

Wool in the Summer?
You may think wool would be steadfast in keeping you warm but that isn’t always the case. In fact, some campers prefer to ONLY wear wool socks. Wool actually works by regulating your body temperature. Smartwool socks are made of a thinner wool that is anti-odor and moisture-wicking to keep your feet feeling cool even in the thick of the summer season.

Get Smart About Your Socks
Thanks to the nature of this ‘miracle fiber’, Smartwool socks are naturally antibacterial, resist odor, and wick moisture away. For that reason, these socks don’t require washing after each use. You know your child. They MIGHT just grab the SAME pair of socks from yesterday! If they’re just going to wear the same socks again, at least they won’t be smelly and gross with a pair of Smartwool socks.

The people at Smartwool are smart. Not only about the way they make their products, but also the relationships they form with their business partners. They only work with a select group of businesses that they trust. Therefore, it’s an honor for us to offer their amazing socks on our summer camp shop. Check out their fun website and learn another thing or two about Smartwool. You can learn more about Smartwool right here and, as always, thanks for reading.

Wonderful Wool!

Hey, Cool Kids!

It’s especially cool this time of year here in Northwest Wisconsin. One might even say it’s downright cold! It’s the perfect season to curl up with a big, woolly blanket and keep warm. In fact, nearly the whole country was affected just a few weeks back when many states saw the coldest Christmas we’ve seen in decades with wind chill readings reaching as low as forty below.

A common misconception about blankets is that blankets themselves are warm. Unless you’re talking about an electric blanket, they don’t actually provide you with any heat. Where’s the heat coming from? Your own internal furnace! A blanket is only trapping in and surrounding your body with your own body heat that you give off.

Northwest Woolen Mills knows this about blankets. They’ve been manufacturing wool and synthetic blankets for over 68 years! Located in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, this mill of the Brickle Group has made a living by providing comfort and warmth through their army blankets and emergency relief blankets.

Stay snug when the temperature drops with the Bunkhouse Plaid Wool Blanket, available right here at Everything Summer Camp. This bulky blanket is 60% wool with a cozy plaid design. Whether you’re wrapping up at home to stay warm in winter or draping yourself for added warmth around a campfire, it’s sure to keep you toasty and pleased.

But even more important than cold days and campfires, it’s a good idea to have blankets around for emergency situations. Have extra blankets around so you’re prepared to stay warm in extreme circumstances like a power outage. It’s also a good idea extra blankets in the trunk of your family vehicle.

Blankets are invaluable supplies when people don’t have gas or electric heat to keep them warm. Imparting humanitarian relief all over the world, Northwest Woolen Mills proudly provides blankets wherever they are needed. “Wherever there is a natural disaster or political strife,” they assert, “There is a good chance our blankets are there!”

Use the zoom feature when you hover over the main image of the product page on our site. It’ll allow you to get real up close and personal and see the fibers of this fantastic blanket. Naturally flame-retardant and easy to care for; just machine wash on a gentle cycle, add fabric softener to the final rinse, and tumble-dry on low heat. Get the Bunkhouse Plaid Wool Blanket and wrap up in this wool!
